چکیده

The study presents the test results of Completely Decomposed Granite (CDG) soil tested under drained triaxial compression, direct shear and simple tests. Special attention was focused on modification upper halve conventional Direct Shear Test (DST) to behave as freehead in movement along with vertical strain control during stage by using Geotechnical Digital System (GDS). show that Free (FDST) has clear effect measured stress test. It been found strengthparameters from FDST were closer those compression This also provides an independent check consistency data providing interpretation for angle dilation together shearing resistance flow rule analysis

Soil Fertility of Decomposed Granite Cut Slopes and Adjacent Vegetated Soils

In Thoreau's time, people were already planting trees to restore landscapes. Throughout this century, public and private organizations as well as countless landowners have worked to restore plant communities to sites that have been disturbed by natural disasters, and by human activities such as mining, road construction, clear cutting, and agriculture. Over the last 20 years, restoration ecolog...

The Stress-Strain-Strength Behaviour of a Completely Decomposed Granite Soil Using a New Advanced True Triaxial Testing System

Completely decomposed granite (CDG) soil is the most common type of soils found in more than 90% of the land area in Hong Kong. The measurement of the stress-strain-strength behaviour of the CDG soil is very important for deformation and stability analysis of slopes, retaining walls, excavations, deep and shallow foundations related to the CDG soil ground. As most of these geotechnical structur...

Studying the effect of roughness on soil-geotextile interaction in direct shear test

Abstract One of the methods of increasing soil resistance against failure is soil reinforcement using geosynthetics. Soil-geosynthetic interactions are of great importance and are affected by friction and adhesion at their interface. Soil gradation, contact surface roughness and geotextile density are among the factors affecting soil-geotextiles interaction this study, to investigate the eff...

Numerical Discrete Element Simulation Of Soil Direct Shear Test

One of the most common methods to measure soil mechanical properties (namely cohesion and internal friction angle) is direct shear box test. In this paper the development of a three-dimensional (3D) discrete element soil model for simulation of a cohesive soil’s direct shear test is presented. The aim was to calibrate the properties of the Hertz-Mindlin with bonding contact model available in E...

Stress-Strain Behaviour of Completely Decomposed Granite in Both Triaxial and Plane Strain Conditions

Most of the field problems in geotechnical engineering are in three dimensional state or close to a plane strain condition. Strength and deformation properties of soils in plane strain condition are considerably different from those in an axisymmetric condition. Many researchers have investigated the behaviour of soils under a plane strain condition. However, most of the previous studies have c...
